Nelissa Milfeld

Boulder, Colorado

Nelissa bridges compassion with zealous representation in her client-centered practice. She firmly believes that cases are about people and that no two should be treated alike. In a system that tries to define cases by criminal actions, Nelissa defines the narrative by focusing on the individual circumstances of each case.

For the past 8 years, Nelissa represented indigent clients as a public defender in Boulder County. As a senior attorney, she represented juvenile and adult clients in all stages of the criminal process. She served as lead counsel in nearly fifty trials and hundreds of motions hearings. She represented clients on a full range of charges, including first-degree murder, sex assault, securities fraud, domestic violence, theft, and driving under the influence. In 2015, her peers nominated her for Attorney of the Year out of 440 public defenders based on her advocacy, dedication, and service. During her tenure, she handled numerous complex cases and as a result, received several special assignments in Arapahoe and Jefferson counties.

Nelissa is a genuine and caring person who fights relentlessly for her clients. Besides being a passionate attorney, she is a highly accomplished rock climber with many difficult routes across the United States to her name. When she is at home, she and her professional rock climber husband love to cook and entertain their adorable small dogs.
